Ice hockey officials on the ice

For referees, umpires, and assignors

Ice hockey assigning, from youth to college

Cover high-volume weekends, apply eligibility, and keep officials on the same record.

Familiar assigning problems

  • High-volume weekends across rinks
  • Level and eligibility rules that have to stay on the record
  • A long season of pay that should match the games worked

What Horizon already does

Level and certification rules

Put certified officials on the levels they are cleared for, from youth through adult and college play.

Rink-to-rink conflicts

Flag officials who are booked at two rinks, or who lack enough time between ice slots.

Open ice as TBA Requests

Post uncovered games so officials can show interest — Horizon calls that TBA Requests — and you decide who takes the ice.

Season-long payroll

Track fees across a long season and report by official and by level. Electronic ACH through Payment Center is United States only; fees may apply.

How hockey assignors run a weekend in Horizon

  1. Import rink schedules for the weekend or the season, with age levels and game codes attached.
  2. Set level and certification rules so each game shows only the referees and linespeople who qualify.
  3. Assign referees and linespeople, or post uncovered games so officials can show interest — Horizon calls that TBA Requests — then award them yourself.
  4. Send crew notifications for ice time changes and close the season with payroll reports.

From an assignor who runs this kind of schedule

Gene Binda

I have used a number of assigning websites over the years and without question this is THE BEST I have ever come across. It is easy to use, and they can make any adjustment to make your scheduling system fit your specific needs. I use it everyday and have recommended this site to every assignor I do business with and they have made the switch. Everyone is very happy with the change.
